Hello hello. So much to report. To begin with, last night's dress rehearsal went quite well considering the situation we were in. Obviously, we couldn't finish running the show since we hadn't finished teching it, but what we did get to run (the first act and part of the second) went well. Everyone seemed pleased. The pieces are falling together. Today we have a day off, and I'm using it to see Bernadette Peters in concert. I've never seen her perform live, so I'm quite excited for it. Tomorrow we have rehearsal 1-6 to (hopefully) finish teching, and then our first preview! A preview, for those of you who are new to the terminology, is a regular performance with audience, but it is also a chance for the director/choreographer/designers/etc to see the whole show and make changes. Press does not come until after the Official Opening which is on the 17th. We have 8 previews to get things perfect!
In other (VERY EXCITING) news, I was just cast in an original children's version of the Wizard of Oz as the Cowardly Lion! It will tour the East Coast and parts of the Midwest from March 1 to May 30! I'm so pumped! The cast( of 7) will drive itself from city to city in a 15 person van with the sets, costumes and props in a truck. The tour will take me from Florida to Wisconsin to Connecticut and everywhere in between! It should be an exhausting but wonderful time! It is with the American Family Theatre company. !!!!!!
I'm glad to have reported two exciting things on this fine day. Otherwise it has been a rather lazy day off, which I needed. This week should be a fairly long one as well, with rehearsals during the day and previews at night. Though, tomorrows preview will be followed by a one hour notes session with the director at which pizza and adult beverages (for adults only, of course) will be provided! Even if it will be a long day, I'm really excited. Weeeeeeeeeee!
