So today is the day where my family gets the Christmas Tree...but I have two shows. =-( This makes me sad. But, I can't complain because if I did everything I wanted to do tradition-wise I'd never have a gig...(we are a very very very tradition-filled family!) So, they will take a picture and send it to me and I will yell timber from afar. Then they are getting Wings with Cardins...ok I'll think about something else.
An illness is going through the cast...eeeek. Yesterday, one of the supporting actresses became quite ill and was unable to do the evening show. We knew this in the afternoon, but the understudy hadn't had a rehearsal yet so she came in a did the afternoon show and the understudy did the evening show. She was rehearsed into the role between shows. She ended up doing a fabulous job! She will have to do it again this afternoon. I hope our dear castmate feels better soon.
Also during the afternoon show, there was a mishap during the end of the show. Somehow a nail came out of a piece of set, and, unbeknownst to anyone, was laying on stage. Apparently, the guy I'm understudying stepped on it during the scene, (eek) but was somehow able to not react until he came off stage. I was impressed. He then came screaming off the stage and ripped his shoe off. None of us standing in the wings knew what was going on, it was terrifying. He is fine, but it turned out the nail went right through the sole of his shoe, and he could feel it poking into his skin. Fortunately, it didn't puncture him at all.
Welp, nothing else too exciting happened yesterday. We're in the middle of our 6 show weekend. I think the first show today is probably the most difficult, and by tomorrow night we'll probably all be wild and crazy that it'll be a really fast show. haha. I love my job. Weeeeeeeee!
