The preview last night went pretty well! Best so far...still things to accomplish, but it's well on the way now. Today we again have rehearsal from 1-6, but it is a put-in rehearsal. The role of Nancy is being played by the understudy for all Saturday Matinees and the Swing (the understudy for the ensemble) will go into her track. So, today's rehearsal is to go through the show for them. Also, ever since we started Tech, we have been using only one team of children (the ones that did the first few previews.) So, today's put-in is also for the other team of children who who have their first preview tonight. That is more than likely what will take the most time. Most of these children have never run through anything on the stage. The choreographer and dance captain have continued to run through things with them in the lobby, but the stage is such a different feel than any place we rehearsed-so it'll take some time...and lots of patience!
I was going to use my train ride this morning to take a nap, but at the stop after mine a young mother and her son (who was probably 3 or 4) got on the train and sat right in front of me. He could not have been more excited about being on a train. He pressed his face to the window and called out all the things he saw that he found interesting. Which, by the way, were tires, other trains and people. It kept me entertained for a good long while. Then, his mother saw someone she knew on the train and things got even more entertaining, which brings us to...
Another episode of "Overheard on SEPTA" (duhn duhn duhn duhn duhn duhn duuuuuuuuhn!) In this episode we join a woman talking about how she makes dinner for her friends birthday every year, but someone told her she was doing it wrong...
"I been makin' Gnocchis since I was like five, so you do it your way and I'll do it mine." I can't decide if my favorite part about that quote is that she pluralized gnocchi, or that she said she started making it when she was 5. I then imagined this woman as a 5 year old trying to reach the stove and yelling at her mother that the tomato sauce didn't have enough oregano. Needless to say I had to keep myself from laughing out loud. This has been "Overheard on the SEPTA" (duhn duhn duhn duhn duhn duhn duuuuuuuuhn!) Thanks for playing!
Rehearsal 1-6, Dinner 6-7:30, Half-hour 7:30, Preview #4 (first one for the other team of kids) 8PM Weeeeeeeee!
